Spinal Interbody Fusion

Spinal Interbody Fusion A representative 3D model of a spinal segment (here T11-T12) is shown posteriorly instrumented with surgical hardware for interbody fusion. Generic implant designs include transpedicular screws with tulip attachments, longitudinal connecting rods and lock nuts. Other spinal segments and pertinent implants can be added to extend 3D applications (vertebrae, intervertebral discs, transverse cross-links, hooks, cages, dynamic connectors, etc.).

Design – Manufacturing - Assembly. Several laboratory projects need custom-designed fixtures and accessories for bench-top or other experimental applications. Such modalities are thoroughly studied, optimized for clinical relevance and subsequently designed and manufactured. Alternatively, when possible, they are assembled from appropriately selected commercial parts.

Kyphosis - Lordosis

  Kyphosis - Lordosis This is a safe and user-friendly apparatus for objectively contouring the surface mid-sagittal profile of spine and recording associated pelvic obliquity. The device was custom designed and a wooden prototype was manufactured and supplied for pertinent general-population and school-screening purposes. Individual subject-specific traces were subsequently digitized and further processed for globally studying population characteristics, with respect to absolute and normalized coordinates.

The device aims to intraoperatively assist and guide objectively controlled application of transverse corrective forces by means of sublaminar wires. The prototype was made of surgical grade stainless steel (StSteel 316L) and was tested on digital as well as composite spinal models.

Dental Implant Modelling

The cortical and cancellous bone grounds are defined and treated separately. The complete model is subsequently meshed for further application of finite element modelling and analysis (FEM-FEA).
