Current Tasks

BioHexagon has undertaken and successfully pursues several Design, Research & Development projects regarding orthopaedic and dental technology applications, such as:
 
  • Implant designs for hip and knee arthroplasty and other joint-reconstruction surgical procedures.
  • Intramedullary nailing designs for various osteosynthetic operations on long bones.
  • Computational & experimental biomechanics, involving comparative evaluation of implant performance and biomechanical potential of surgical techniques.
  • Multitechnique retrieval studies, for post-revision analysis of arthroplasty and internal fixation implants with reference to wear, breakage and other biomaterial degradation aspects.
 
BioHexagon is also currently involved in Design, Research & Development tasks related to Minimally Invasive Surgical (MIS) procedures (implants & techniques) as well as spinal instrumentation and biomechanics, in projects such as:
 
  • MIS implants and techniques, addressing long bone metaphyseal fractures.
  • Spinal implant designs, for the reconstructive surgery of the spine, including disc arthroplasty.
  • Computational simulation of the spine, for clinically relevant representation of physiological and pathological 3D profiles and associated kinetics.
